Percy Jackson and the Olympians is an upcoming American fantasy television series which is based on the novel of the same name by Rick Riordan. The series is being produced by Quaker Moving Pictures, Co-Lab21, James Bobin, Inc., and Moorish Dignity Productions.
Filming of the series began in June 2022 and ended in February 2023. Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz were announced as showrunners. The series is a spinoff of the 2010 film, ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’. The first season of the show is set to adapt from the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief. Percy Jackson and the Olympians Release Date
Filming of the series ended in February 2023. Riordan announced that the series would likely be released around early 2024. However, Disney+ has confirmed the release date for the series and Percy Jackson and the Olympians is all set to premiere on December 20, 2023, on Disney+.
The first season will consist of 8 episodes, of which the first 2 will be released on premiere day. James Bobin is directing the first two episodes of the series.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Plot
The first season of the series will adapt from the ‘Lighting Thief’. Percy Jackson finds out that he’s a demigod (Son of Poseidon) after a series of events, which sees his mother get taken to Hell and Percy being accused by Zeus of being the one who stole his Master Bolt.
As things progress, Percy along with his friends, Grover (Satyr) and Annabeth (Daughter of Athena) find out that Luke, Son of Hermes is the real thief. It will be interesting to see how Percy along with his friends manages to clear their names and potentially stop another war between the Olympians.
Readers of the book very well know how the story ends, but don’t worry we won’t spoil you any further. This series is being endorsed by Rick Riordan so we expect a pretty accurate adaptation of the original book. Apart from this, it is unclear whether the plot will undergo any major changes.
